At Christchurch School, we provide opportunities to create everything from landscapes and portraits to still life or abstract images. Taking part in our visual arts opportunities helps students discover hidden talents and unlock artistic potential. It also results in all kinds of emotional, social, mental, and academic benefits.
Our Visual Arts Education
Students use a variety of mediums — such as pen and ink, graphite, or digital technology — to design creations that reflect their perspectives. Often drawing inspiration from the picturesque setting that surrounds them on our campus, students are encouraged to produce pieces that have never before been imagined. They then present these works to other students, using them to inspire others’ creativity.
As is true of our entire fine arts program, we use the visual arts as part of our mission to fuel a passion for artistic integrity, a broader view of world culture, and a stronger connection to a sense of place. In the process, students can experience all the enriching benefits of the arts, including cultivated creativity, a love of learning, aesthetic awareness, improved emotional expression, appreciation of diversity, fewer behavioral incidents, and even higher overall academic performance.
